Emerald Whisper

The Kakapo is one of the most incredible birds I have ever come across.
This magnificent animal is flightless and nocturnal. It is the largest parrot I have ever seen and its gorgeous emerald green feathers help it camouflage perfectly in the New Zealand forests. They are very curious animals and every individual has its own personality. When working with these animals, you can actually identify which individual you see because of how it behaves. They are critically endangered and no members of the public can see them in the wild without volunteering for the DOC. If you want to have a most memorable two weeks of your life though, I would highly recommend you volunteer to work on Whenua Hou.
Wild birds are truly amazing! I love spending time with them and nature always find a way to teach us that not everything is black and white. Sometimes we need to change our views to see a situation in color.
