Bed Time

One of my most memorable owl sightings. This beautiful Pearl-spotted Owlet was on its way to bed, but wanted to catch the morning sunlight first. I loved showing my guests these owlets, as they have a beautiful call and other small birds hate them. The Pearl-spotted Owlet sometimes feeds on the chicks of other birds, so when you mimic their call other birds will rush toward you to investigate. Alarm calls will fill the air around you and they will look for their enemy until they are satisfied that it is not there. Probably my favorite owl species in the whole world.

Wild birds are truly amazing! I love spending time with them and nature always find a way to teach us that not everything is black and white. Sometimes we need to change our views to see a situation in color.
